Whether you think Valentine’s Day is just a Hallmark holiday or it’s your favorite day of the year, gifts for this romantic day can be quite expensive. From jewelry to the classic fancy night out, you can easily spend over $100. Though the sentiment of an expensive gift is coming from the right place, I have a few ideas to guarantee a memorable Valentine’s Day with your special someone, while keeping you on budget.
Plan a Scavenger Hunt: If your sweetie likes riddles or games, this idea will have them entertained all day! Write messages leading them to the next clue, which can lead them ultimately where your activity is or to a nice picnic you’ve planned. Sky’s the limit with this idea and you can make it personalized for just the two of you.
Leave “Why I Love You” Messages: If you live together or have access to put notes where your significant other will find them, leaving cute “Why I Love You” messages is the gift that keeps giving. Living On a Dime suggests leaving notes in different places around the house or you can leave them in their car, anywhere you can think of that would be a nice surprise.
Cook Together: What better way to bond than over food? This activity can be both fun and intimate. You’ll be able to plan the menu together and you work as a pair to achieve the goal of making a delicious meal you will both enjoy. For a fun twist you can try making things that are heart shaped or red.
Make Them a Gift: Whether it’s a handmade card or your latest DIY project, your significant other will love that you put time and effort into making a one-of-a-kind gift that you can’t get in a store. This is my favorite way to show someone that I care about them because it takes a lot more effort and thought than if you were to go shopping for a gift.
I hope these ideas spark your romantic spirit to surprise your special someone with an activity or gift they will remember. What’s your most memorable Valentine’s Day story? Tell us in the comments below!
Happy Valentine’s Day, Rachel
