New Restaurant In Town: Denica's Real Food Kitchen

Livermore used to be the quiet, sleepy town I grew up in, but now it’s starting to put itself on the map with great food and wine. The newest addition to the city’s eateries is Denica’s Real Food Kitchen. It’s located off of 580 on North Livermore Avenue, in the same shopping area as Strings Italian Restaurant and Patelco Credit Union.

The restaurant is small, but cozy. As you walk in you immediately get in line to order, right in front of their bake case. Denica’s offers many delicious baked treats including cookies, giant cinnamon rolls, and muffins.

The menu has something for everyone, whether you want breakfast or lunch. They offer breakfast burritos, specialty pancakes, omelets, sandwiches and salads. Today I ordered the Grilled Vegetable Sandwich on Ciabatta with a side caesar salad. I also ordered a side of breakfast potatoes and some cookies togo.

After receiving my number, I took a seat at one of the tables in seating area. There are a few long tables, meant for larger parties, and many smaller tables for parties of two or four. The booths are green and the walls are a light wooden color. There is a small area on the right side of the restaurant for children to play while you wait for your food.

The Grilled Vegetable Sandwich had eggplant, tomatoes, red bell peppers, sautéed onions and Pesto sauce with melted cheeses. It came out hot and the vegetables were flavorful. The eggplant and pesto combination is one of my favorites and it was successfully executed. The side salad was nice, refreshing, and was not over dressed. The breakfast potatoes were lightly salted and served with a little bit of green onions for garnish. They too were tasty and left me wanting more.

Denica’s is a little expensive, but the food is worth it. I would definitely recommend this place and will be visiting again soon. They are open everyday from 6am-4pm. If you are looking for a good sandwich or a tasty breakfast, Denica’s is the place to go.
